Yup. The numbers are for each layer of tape used in the elevation. Here's the method use, from Jamie's CSX Dixie Line:

Looking good Shaun. Are those numbers next to the main at the curves for super elevation?

Here's where I got all the fixtures from:

http://www.saviolighting.com/Saunter-s/125.htm

It's the T4 size I use. They also have the switch, cables, etc...

Since they were the old fixtures installed on in the layout they are using the "daylight" bulb color, which I think is the 6400K.

Shaun,
Remind me again where you got the lights - most importantly that switch thingy. The single bulb fixture in my room is ok to keep from kicking the cat (!) but I"d like to have something a bit better. Of course, since I own mine, I suppose I could do trac lighting or something.

Hey Matt.

Correct on the crossing being a 30 degree crossing.

For my curved turnouts, I'm using two that I bought off of ebay from this seller:

http://stores.ebay.com/JSW-custom-trains?_rdc=1

They are custom built 16.5" curved turnouts using Micro Engineering c55 track. He used the Fast Track jigs to make them. I would've liked to have used the Atlas ones (cheaper), but they don't come in the size I need.

While these custom ones are a little pricey, it was still cheaper than buying the jig for just two turnouts and doing them myself.

Shaun,
I've been following your layout construction since I came across your site late last year when I was searching for info on the SLR project that MR had begun. I'm impressed with how you have modified the original track plan and I would like to use your plan with a few mods of my own. I have a couple of questions for you if you wouldn't mind. 1. What is the degree of the crossing on the Elmwood side? It looks to be about 30 degrees. 2. Are you planning on using the new atlas curved turnouts?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Marty,

Thanks for the compliments.

I've been working on some small video projects the last week so I haven't made a whole lot of progress on the layout lately. Hopefully this weekend I can finish up the mainline on the Marigny side and move over to Elmwood.

Shaun,

Been checking your site all the time to see updates. I just finished my benchwork last night. I used the open grid style. Plus my layout will only be 8ft long instead of 9ft(I have a small room). I liked the way you inserted a switch on the one side of the layout. I also will be inserting a switch on this side, however it will go towards the scenic divider. The switch will lead to a coal mine loadout. Your wiring looks terrific! I like the way you used the communications bracket for the electronics. Eventually I will add signals. I was able to use the Kato track I already had to finish the main line. I will be using other track for the sidings and yards.
Keep up the great work!

Shaun,
I wouldn't worry about it too much. As you have probably seen (if you've spent any time in the Feliciana Parishes, for instance) rivers and bayous seldom have the same size banks on both sides. Often one is a steep bluff (think Vicksburg) with a much lower other bank. So without knowing it, you've actually upped the realism of your layout.

Can't wait to see the first video of trains running!

The river side will probably stay as is, as most of the backdrop will be covered by the hills, with a just little blue sky peaking out here and there.

On the Elmwood side, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. Either a printed backdrop of hills or a city skyline.
