Looks like you are going to amplify a loco decoder, so you can have full fidelity sound! But won’t this only work with one decoder at a time? I’m curious as to your plan… very interesting.
Yup. The idea is to build a self contained stationary sound decoder box to install under the layout that can use either the speaker that came with the decoder or a line-out to a Powered speaker system.
I thought about building a system to support multiple decoders but decided to keep things simple and go with a “one-decoder-per-box” plan. A mixer will be used to combine multiple boxes that connect to a speaker system.
I’ll be testing this with a MRC decoder I have now, while future decoders might be a Digitrax SFX004 Soundbug.
I picked up the hardware at lunch today so I should have a working prototype tonight.
