Backdrop progress and some kits

January 17th, 2010

I took some time off from the layout itself to work some model kits.  Last week I worked on building the Walther’s Mi-Jack Intermodal Crane.  I have it completed as 2 main sections and tires for painting (probably next weekend).

And then I assembled a Walther’s Double Track Truss Bridge kit, also waiting on a (stainless steel) paint job.

Once those were done I finished up the mounts for backdrop on the layout. Next step is to attach the backdrop itself.

I built one o fthose Mi-Jack’s years ago for another layout – it shattered when I moved to Seattle. SO much for creative packing . . . .

Ouch. That’s a bummer. When we moved from Houston back to New Orleans, I packed all the buildings with lots of extra bubble wrap and lots of boxes. Luckily, they all made it in one piece except for the refinery. The boiler structure came off the base and a few small pipes popped off.

I ran out of yellow paint so I have some (and a few other colors) on order now, due to arrive tomorrow UPS says. If the weather stays nice I might be able to get some painting done on the back patio before the weekend.

One of the joys of living back home.

Have you got Saints Fever yet?

Hey I’ve seen you’re photos of the train layout and I think you’re doing a great job building the model train layout and the black bridge above its coming out pretty good.
