Benchwork Top

September 20th, 2009

Today I got the top to the benchwork installed.  It’s installed on 4″ risers to give me some vertical clearance for any below grade scenic items I want to add, like the planned drainage ditch, culverts, underpass roadway, etc…    In case I want to add something, I have the room to do it.

I originally wanted to use 2 4×8 sheets of wood cut to the layout shape, but everything Lowes and Home Depot was so too badly warped.  I ended up using 5 2×4 sheets of 1/2 birch cut as needed.  A few more joints than I wanted, but it seemed to have worked out fine.

Now I can begin mocking up the track layout.

Nice progress – funny, but I think you were at about this stage on the last layout when I started following your progress. I gues sit means smaller is better (at least in terms of completion rate).

    Hi Shaun.

What is the size of the layout? I am sure you wrote this already, but I can’t find where it is.

    Keep up the good work.

    Hi Luis,

Sorry for the delayed reply. The basic shape is 14′x3′. A portion of the middle area goes down to 2′ wide.
